Course info
The purpose of this curriculum is to structure the course „Foreign Language: Specialized Translation”, 1-st year of study, 2 semester, in accordance with the framework of the national university curriculum.
Language teaching for specific purposes is an important component of higher education, which is essential because we are now part of a much wider international context than in the past. It is the current context that determines the need to know as many languages as possible, so as to make it possible to graduate as harmoniously as possible in the domestic and international labor market and interact with other specialists from various European countries, and not only in the field each of them will activate. Without a thorough knowledge of a foreign language, the quality of students' scientific training can also decrease significantly, in the context in which the great discoveries and research in various fields are now communicated and published especially in English. Thus, the need to ensure the competitiveness of young people becomes of great importance..
Hence, during the course, the following objectives are pursued:
The general objective of the discipline is the acquisition and development by students of language skills that are necessary for professional communication in English, situational appropriateness and social acceptedness, by acquiring specific knowledge, skills and attitudes in accordance with the requirements of the speciality.
The specific objectives provide for: the use of English language skills for communicative purposes; synthesizing information and submitting arguments from different sources; expressing views on concrete and abstract topics, common and professional; use of knowledge to explain and interpret written and oral information and data and conventions governing English texts; transferring oral and written communication strategies to specific English language standards; creating terminological coherence; developing cultural competence as part of foreign language communication competence.
