Profound transformations that are taking place in contemporary society set new goals and rules for higher education institutions. Thus, new conditions change the content of preparing qualified specialists. Of primary importance in this respect is the professionalization of students' knowledge component. Given the democratization of society students must acquire the ability to orient themselves in political life, to know the political and development trends of society. 

Currently, political science is a science recognized worldwide. Attention granted to political science as a science and as a study subject is conditioned by the need to develop methods of influence on social consciousness, to argue theoretically domestic and foreign policy objectives of the state.

Under democratic society, politicization of social problems continue affirmation of politics in social spheres, it should aim first to teach the student to focus on political science. It should be noted that in terms of teaching and studying the political science, the Republic of Moldova has a little experience in the process exploration in field. Discipline Political Science is a field of study that aims to contribute to the compensation of political knowledge which is required to hold by the students. The objective of the discipline is to provide the students with the theoretical basis of political science, to address the scientific content of the main conceptual categories, to teach the students to orient substantially in the policy, methods and processes of political analysis skills training to promote sound policy and objective and finally prepare for active participation in political life. 

Conceptual basis of the subject is the human dimension of politics, focusing on the main themes of the political science arsenal. The main idea is also the issue that led to the increased importance in socio-political sphere, the need to improve the competence and political responsibility of citizens in social and political conditions of contemporary society. Basic aspects of the topics of discipline are as follows: political science as a science and discipline of study, political power, political system, political regimes, state as a central institution of the political system, political parties, political leadership, political elite. Depth study of these and other topics are central for political science approach that ensures a minimum knowledge for training of the young specialists. Under the current circumstances it is important that the younger generation to form a coherent and effective citizenship, implement in daily life human values, to have principles and rules of democratic life. At the same time, a special emphasis is placed on the analysis of the peculiarities of the political factors under the conditions of the Republic of Moldova.

       Prepared for undergraduate studies, 1st cycle, Specialty "International Relations", the course is also useful for other specialties but of course adapted to the specifics of this.

Integration of the course unit into the curriculum: The "Political Science" discipline is a component of a block of fundamental course units (F code), oriented towards the accumulation of knowledges and the formation of basic skills, integrated into general competencies. This course is taught in English for two semesters of the first year of study.
The curriculum relates to national and university normative acts:
- Education Code of the Republic of Moldova, approved on July 17, 2014;
-National Qualifications Framework in Higher Education;
- Regulation for organization of studies in higher education based on the National Credit Loan System, approved by order of the Ministry of Education no.1046 of 29.10.2015;
- The AUM Regulation on the organization of the assessment of students learning activity.

In the process of elaboration of the respective Curriculum, the following factors were taken into account:

-                  The need to adjust the educational offer to the current labor market requirements in the field of political sciences;

-                  National and international experience in the elaboration of the curriculum of the "Political Sciences" discipline;

-                  Integrating theory with practice.
